Junsai
Junsai is a kind of lotus perennial plant. It tastes very soft. It lived by
itself around Lake Sohara.
Some fish ate it, but now they are grown up at the artificial and natural ponds.
In early summer you can see some people take them by box boat quietly. They
are sold with canned.
You can taste them misoshiru, add shoyu, or with vinegar.
Sansai (Mountain
Vegetable)
We have 'zenmai', 'taranome,' 'ira,' and so on. Tempura of Taranome tastes good.
Kinoko
(Mashrooms)
We have mushrooms in fall. Maitake(dancing mushrooms), nameko, hiratake,shiitake,
usugoromo.
Kogen-yasai
(Vegetable in highland)
Hanayome sasage is a kind of beans. It can be planted in highland more than
800m and called 'benibana ingen'.
It is red and white.
They are caned and made for manju.
We plant lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, and highland radish.
From September to November they sell them at the stand.
Asparagus
Yield of asparagus increased after asparagus in Kitashiobaramura changed white
into green.
90% Yield of it in whole Fukushima Pre. is planted in Aizu and the quality and
tastes are good.
you can get good asparagus in JA Kitashiobara-branch before 9 in the morning.
Soba
(Japanese noodle)
We plant soba in Aizu. After harvesting soba each soba festival is held in each
place.
We don't have many soba restaurants in Kitashiobaramura, but some soba expert's
initiate young generations. Zaru soba is very general, but we have 'daikon soba',
which is hard soba with hot soup like daikon( radish),tamanegi (onion) and chicken.

(cucumbers)
